Movie Review: John Carpenter’s The Ward was another new film that popped up on Amazon Prime. It has Amber Heard as the main character and I’m not a big fan but put John Carpenters name on it and I’ll give it a try.
The movie is based in the 60’s and Kristen (Amber Heard) is setting fire to an old far house. She’s sitting and watching it burn as the police come and take her away to an institution. She’s placed in the high security ward with 4 other girls. The last girl who had been in her room had been attacked and disappeared in the night. Supernatural goings on occur around Kirsten as she tries to escape, repeatedly because she’s convinced there’s something trying to kill her. The girls start being killed, one by one, as Kirsten tried to escape and find out the truth of Tammy (the last girl in the room).
There is a big twist at the end as nothing or no one is what or who they seem.
This is a good little movie, nothing groundbreaking or mind blowing. I thought Amber Heard overacted but I’ve already said I’m not a fan of hers. My husband loved it. I’ll give a 7/10. I liked the story, it was an OK movie but nothing I would rave about as a must see and I expect better from John Carpenter.
Your review is spot on. It certainly wasn’t a bad movie, but from a director that has made such classics, one really expects better. Still I have seen worse films, that’s for sure 😊

I have to agree with both of you. It was an OK movie but as said, nothing spectacular.
